Who we are

Charley's Play Barn("we", "us", "our") is responsible for your personal data. We operate a children's soft play and role-play venue at 14 Marsh Gate, Doncaster, DN5 8AF.

Contact us about privacy: [email protected] or call 01302 879274.

What data we collect

We may collect and process the following information:

  • Booking details — name, email address, phone number, session and ticket information, order total, and any notes you provide (for example accessibility or allergy information).
  • Contact enquiries — name, email address, subject and message when you use our contact form.
  • Website usage — basic technical data such as browser type and pages visited, collected automatically by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and running.
  • Cart information — tickets you add to your basket are stored locally in your browser until you complete or clear your booking.

We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. Bookings must be made by a parent, guardian or authorised adult.

How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • Process and manage your bookings
  • Respond to enquiries and provide customer support
  • Operate our admin systems and manage venue capacity
  • Meet legal, accounting and safety obligations
  • Improve our website and services

Our lawful bases under UK GDPR include: performance of a contract (when you book with us), legitimate interests (running our business and responding to enquiries), and legal obligation where required.

How long we keep your data

We keep booking records for as long as needed to administer your visit, handle queries or disputes, and meet accounting and legal requirements — typically up to 6 years for financial records. Contact form messages are kept while we handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with trusted service providers who help us run our business, such as:

  • Website and database hosting providers
  • Payment processors (Stripe) when you pay online
  • Email delivery services (for booking confirmations and replies)

These providers only process data on our instructions and must protect it appropriately. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Cookies and local storage

We use essential local storage in your browser to remember items in your booking cart between pages. This is necessary for the booking process to work and does not require consent under UK rules.

If we add analytics or marketing tools in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Request erasure in certain circumstances
  • Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances
  • Request data portability where applicable
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data, including secure hosting, access controls on our admin area, and limiting who can view customer information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Please check back periodically. Significant changes may also be highlighted on our website.
